We welcome applications from individuals with extensive translation experience for the post of translator within
the Translation Team at WJEC. The individual will work in a busy department and contribute to ensuring that WJEC

The challenge
As Wales’ largest awarding body, WJEC contributes to our education communities by providing trusted

therefore a great opportunity to be part of an organisation that both encourages and enhances the minds of the
future.
The role
This role is key to ensuring that WJEC offers a fully bilingual service to its customers and stakeholders. One of the
essential objectives of this post is maintaining the WJEC's high linguistic standards by discussion and working

The individual
To thrive in this role, you will be a conscientious and active member of the team and be able to communicate
easily in both Welsh and English. You will be able to work carefully and accurately and show an interest in Welsh
terminology, playing your part in ensuring that WJEC materials are aligned with those of the education community
in Wales. The post holder will work closely with other members of the Translation Team and the wider Language
Service, but they will also be able to work independently to fulfil tasks to tight timescales.
Our benefits
At WJEC, we pride in being an inclusive and supportive place to work. We also offer a range of excellent benefits
including: 25 days annual leave per year (in addition to 16 statutory / additional holidays) adjusted for part
time/compressed working patterns, free Welsh lessons, a generous pension scheme and numerous family friendly
policies. A career with WJEC can be extremely rewarding and you will be encouraged throughout with great
opportunities to develop your professional and personal skills.
WJEC operates a hybrid working model, enabling the successful candidate to split their time between WJEC
offices and working at home, subject to business need. As such, applications are invited from individuals across
the UK but please note that regular working from our Cardiff offices will be required and whilst flexibility can be
discussed, this team currently attend the office, on average, 1 day a month.
If you would like to know more about this role, or about working at WJEC, please do not hesitate to contact our HR
team (HR@wjec.co.uk), who will be more than happy to help.
This role is a Welsh medium role and therefore applicants will be expected to show proficiency in Welsh to
the required standard in their application.
