Working Hours 

37 hours per week, with the need for evening and weekend work at events.  Plaid Cymru operates a flexible working hours system. The post offers 28 days holiday per year with additional privilege days.  

 

 

Purpose of the role:  

The postholder will, under the supervision of the Head of Policy and the senior management team, co-ordinate the organisation of the party’s conferences and other events, organise fundraising events, as well as manage the party’s presence at external national events such as the Eisteddfod and Royal Welsh Show. The role will involve close liaison with partners and working regularly across teams within the party’s head office to ensure the delivery of events to a professional standard. 

  

Main Responsibilities   

  • Implementing a strategy for the development of conferences and events, including developing income streams 

  • Booking and liaising with venues 

  • Procuring and liaising with third-party contractors 

  • Maintaining a close working relationship with partner organisations who attend and sponsor party events; including unions, charities, industry bodies and public affairs professionals 

  • Working with staff colleagues to ensure that events are correctly branded and are of a professional appearance 

  • Working closely with colleagues from across the party to plan, publicise and deliver activities within party events 

  • Managing bookings by event attendees 

  • Liaise with the party’s Conference Steering Committee and colleagues within the policy team to ensure that the programmes of conferences reflect the party’s objectives 

  • Manage the staffing requirements of party events, including implementing staff rotas and ensuring that transport and accommodation is booked 

  • Monitor income and expenditure relating to events, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines 

 

 

Key Skills & Experience 

Essential:  

  • Time-Management and Organization: Ability to keep track of multiple projects, prioritising deadlines as appropriate 

  • Scheduling & Strategic Planning: Capability to coordinate calendars, book venues, and liaise with a potentially large number of other organisations  

  • Computer Literacy & Software Proficiency: Proficiency in applications such as Microsoft 365, Excel, Outlook.  

  • Discretion & Confidentiality: Operating with integrity when handling sensitive financial, or client data, and an awareness of ethical considerations 

  • Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: The capability to think on your feet when the unexpected happens and logistics change  

  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Being a professional, approachable, and friendly point of contact for venues, partner organisations and contractors.  

  • Communication: The ability to communicate effectively in English and Welsh 

 

Desirable: 

 

  • Experience of working within political organisations 

  • Knowledge of the political context within Wales
