Job Overview

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with digital content systems, archives, information management and continuous improvement in a fast-paced media environment. Your contribution will be vital as S4C continues to develop as a publisher of multi-platform content, and as we unlock the value of our extensive archive collection. As an Archive & Content Delivery Officer  you will be passionate about digital media, archive and content systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the heart  of S4C's Digital First strategy, managing content across a variety of platforms and helping to shape the future of one of the UK's most important media archives. You will play a key role in conveying and managing the content commissioned by S4C, as well as the content in the channel's extensive archive.

As S4C continues its transformation into a multi-platform content publisher, digital systems, workflow and content management are at the heart of everything we do within the Content Archive and Delivery Team.

You will report to the Archive and Content Delivery Lead within S4C's Content Operations Department.

What will you do?

As an Archive & Content Delivery Officer, you will:

  • Play a key role in managing, delivering and maximising the value of content across S4C's platforms, using a range of digital tools and media asset management systems.
  • Help to shape and improve digital content delivery processes and support the management of one of Wales' most significant media archives.
  • Contribute to the continued development of a modern and efficient workflow that ensures that content reaches audiences accurately and effectively.
  • Use  industry-standard Media Asset Management (MAM) systems and digital content systems to efficiently manage, organize, search, retrieve, and distribute content.
  • Play a key role in supporting the conveyance of content across S4C's digital and broadcast platforms. The Archive and Content Delivery Team ensures that content arrives promptly and in accordance with S4C's technical requirements, while also ensuring that content is processed and published on the appropriate publishing platform.
  • Work with metadata, archival records and digital assets to ensure content is easy to find, accurately catalogued and accessible.
  • Help to optimise and improve digital workflows, support the ongoing development of S4C's content delivery systems.
  • Research and solve content and quality communication problems using digital systems and reporting tools.
  • Work with colleagues across S4C, BBC Wales and the independent production sector to ensure that content is conveyed accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain high standards in digital asset management, content governance and information accuracy.
  • Support initiatives to digitise archives, reuse content and maximise the value of the archive.
  • Develop expertise in digital rights management, licensing and archival content clearance processes.
  • Keep up to date with developments in media technology, digital publishing and best practice in content communication.
  • Identify and co-ordinate corrections for any quality issues (picture and sound) identified during quality assurance or review processes, minimising the impact on publication schedules.
  • Collaborate across teams at S4C and with external partners to ensure that all elements of the content are accurate and available in good time.
  • Ensure that accurate information is available to relevant departments at S4C and BBC Wales for the publication of content across platforms, including contact details and backup content where appropriate.
  • Search for archival content, select and license it, supporting its use. This will sometimes include recording programme content and prioritising requests during busy periods.
  • Develop and maintain a robust understanding of content rights, ensuring that all uses comply with licensing terms.

You will also succeed if you have the skills and interest to develop professionally by:

  • Understanding production workflows and convey content.
  • Managing, investigating and ensuring the best use of archival material.
  • Understanding records management and retention policies, archival standards and best practice.
  • Being aware of broadcasting rules and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding archival content clearance processes, including copyright, licensing rights, intellectual property and rights tracking restrictions.
  • Using strong organisational skills when managing large volumes of content and prioritising requests.

During your first three months you will be expected to:

  • To use S4C's media asset management systems efficiently.
  • Work with the independent sector to ensure that Productions are conveyed in a timely manner and are processed and published on the appropriate platform.
  • Respond to internal and external enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Be able to search for archival content, select it and license it.
  • Work with colleagues to support the work of the department.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders and internal departments.

You will also:
