About Tir Natur

Registered as a charity in 2022, Tir Natur works to advance for the benefit of the public the improvement and conservation of the physical and natural environment in Wales by restoring the natural processes that create resilient ecosystems through rewilding. In doing so we will reverse declines in biodiversity and bio-abundance in Wales. Tir Natur owns a 1200-acre holding in mid Wales.

Tir Natur also works to:

  • Advance the education and engagement of the public in the principles of ecosystem restoration and rewilding through the promotion of rewilding principles.
  • Enhance the wellbeing of communities in Wales through engagement with natural landscapes and improving access to these landscapes.

Learning & Development

This is a 12-month trainee position designed to build practical skills and confidence in rewilding. The postholder will learn on the job under the supervision of the Rewilding Manager, gaining experience in habitat management, ecological surveying, data handling, volunteer engagement, livestock welfare checks and the principles and processes of rewilding.

Monitoring & Support

Progress will be supported through monthly check-ins with the Rewilding Manager, a learning log, and a 6-month review to track development and identify further training needs.

Outcome

By the end of the contract, the postholder will have a strong foundation of practical and ecological skills suitable for future work in rewilding, conservation, ecological surveying or land management.

Optional short training courses (e.g. outdoor first aid, safe tool use or survey skills) may be supported depending on needs and interest.
