Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd (CCDG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Welsh Government. We provide an essential, all-age, independent, impartial and bilingual careers guidance and coaching services in Wales, including the Working Wales programme.

Trainee / Careers Adviser – competitive salary - excellent terms and conditions – we have two full time vacancies, one based in Powys or Ceredigion and one in Flintshire, Wrexham or Denbighshire.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for these vacancies.
Successful candidates have a base office within the local authority area and will deliver in education setting/s nearest to their home address. Business travel is essential and may include working across multiple educational settings. The role will involve a blend of working from home, centre-base and from educational settings.
Careers Wales is an all-age guidance service supporting young people in education and customers in the labour market. We are the only national organisation in Wales who offer impartial careers information, advice and guidance services. Our advisers are passionate about helping people achieve their potential.
We are recruiting for either qualified or Trainee Careers Advisers who can work young people within our Services for Young People team.
Careers Adviser salary scale: £31,096 - £35,981, starting salary £31,096 and Trainee Careers Adviser salary: £29,873.
Our Careers Advisers working in education are instrumental in ensuring that young people are prepared for key transition points in their lives and that they are aware of the skills required to succeed in an ever-changing labour market. They work with young people in mainstream schools, special schools, those educated other than at school and FE colleges.
Careers Advisers use a range of tools and skills to support the work they do with young people. This ranges from one-to-one support, delivering interactive group sessions and presenting information using a range of digital technology. They are also required to manage their own diaries and workloads with support from their manager.
If you would like the challenge of working with young people of all abilities and backgrounds, can motivate and inspire young people to achieve their goals, can establish effective relationships with teachers, parents and other learning providers, then we would like to hear from you.
General Information:
You are required to travel within Wales and occasionally UK to fulfil your duties and/or to attend learning and development events. You are responsible for ensuring that you have adequate transport arrangements to enable you to fulfil your duties and/or to attend learning and development events.
Qualified Careers Advisers must be qualified to QCF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (or equivalent) and be eligible for the Career Development Institute Register of Practitioners.
If you do not already have the QCF qualification, we will provide you with the training and support you need to achieve this valuable qualification.
Trainee Careers Advisers should be educated to degree level or equivalent standard and will complete the Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development. This is a degree-level vocational qualification, which will be completed in the workplace, but will require some independent learning in the learner’s own time.
The successful applicant will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The selection process will take the form of an assessment centre and interview. The assessment centre will be conducted in Welsh and both the Assessment Centre and Interview will be digital events on Teams and will be held on 16/12/2025 (assessment centre) and 18/12/2025 or 19/12/2025 (interviews).
