Role responsibilities

As Systems Engineer, you will compile project plans for fleet improvements whilst working with the Fleet Planning Team to best realise the proposed benefits. You will also monitor progress against plans whilst reviewing improvements against project improvement targets.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • To achieve performance KPI’s in terms of safety, reliability, availability, and cost of the systems equipment for which they are responsible for.
  • Own specified systems full Whole Life Cycle Cost Model (WLCM) including the Train Reliability Improvement Programme (TRIP). Create periodic reports to update internal and external stakeholders on fleet performance for nominated systems. Leading performance Viz sessions and present detailed performance analysis reports at leadership meetings.
  • To monitor fleet performance, identify actual and potential material, production, planning and technical problems by establishing root cause. Manage closure of logged technical, production and planning issues associated with systems engineering.
  • Devise, manage and deliver performance improvement plans for their allocated system/fleet whilst working with other Fleet departments and external stakeholders to deliver the expected benefits.
  • Form an active part of a dynamic, data driven, and performance focussed organisation, exploiting industry best practice, ‘Brilliant Basics’ and analytics led performance improvement techniques.

 

 

 Who we’re looking for

  • Relevant demonstratable industry experience.
  • Experience of delivering projects and modifications.
  • Significant experience in asset improvement management.
  • Familiarisation with fleet contracts and rolling stock leases.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer systems.
  • An effective communicator.
  • Diplomatic ability to influence others at all levels of the business.
  • Knowledge of relevant specifications and standards.


Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills.
