Role responsibilities

The Cleaning Operative will work as part of a team responsible for the day-to-day customer service and health and safety of passengers.

• Using equipment provided, Clean designated facility areas, this includes TFWRL Train services subject to agreement. Tasks include damp wiping, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom cleaning of CVL toilet pods 

• Clean station platforms, including emptying bins, graffiti removal, removing pigeon excrement subject to training 

• Using supplies provided, replenish and restock designated facility areas, this includes TFWRL train services subject to agreement. Tasks include replenish soap, toilet rolls. 

• Carry out heavy cleansing tasks where required. This includes carpet cleaning, steam cleaning. 

• Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs. (This includes whilst onboard TFWRL Train services) using the fault reporting system 

• Reporting of accidents, close calls and near misses using the Accident Reporting System 

Who we’re looking for

• Experience of working in a cleaning role. 

• Full UK Driving License 

• Ability to handle equipment and materials 

• Understand and work within Health and Safety policies and procedures 

• Understanding of how to safely handle cleaning substances. 

• Flexible and available to work the shifts required, where possible 

• Ability to attain and maintain enhanced level of skill as defined in the competency matrix 

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
