About Us

We are Qualifications Wales, the independent organisation responsible for regulating general and vocational qualifications in Wales.

Our strategic priorities over the next five years are:

We are now looking for a Qualifications Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week. Requests for alternative working patterns, including part-time and job share, may be discussed at the interview.

The Role

As our Qualifications Manager, you will ensure learners have access to high-quality, inclusive qualifications, leading the development and reform of qualifications.

Focusing on advancing Welsh-medium and Cymraeg programmes, you will lead policies to strengthen post-16 Welsh-medium provision and support the implementation of our new Cymraeg Strategy.

You will also guide initiatives that encourage greater participation in Welsh-medium post-16 qualifications and contribute to the broader work of the Languages, Literacy and Communication team during the rollout of new National 14–16 qualifications.

Additionally, you will:

- Plan, schedule, and deliver projects to time, budget, and quality standards
- Provide strategic direction for the awarding of grants to awarding bodies
- Liaise with awarding bodies to track progress and maintain positive working relationships
- Appoint and manage subject experts
- Lead and manage a small team, setting clear expectations and resolving issues

About You

To be considered as a Qualifications Manager, you will need:

- The ability to write and speak in Welsh
- Experience of working at a management level in a regulatory, qualifications development or quality assurance context
- Significant experience in the qualifications, education or training sectors
- Experience in managing or leading projects
- A demonstrable understanding of broader policy impacting the Welsh language and Welsh language education
- The ability to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills
