Role responsibilities

The Projects Safety Manager will be the key projects and continuous delivery lead within the safety, security and risk team.  You will support improvement projects improving compliance, risks, legal. It will be a dynamic role implementing innovative and agile processes and systems into the business. The role will demand key people and organisational skills to quickly assess situations, identify improvements, and support improvements efficiently with stakeholders.

  1. To be the health and safety lead in relation to projects delivery and interface. To be at the front of all changes, improvements, and implementations.
  2. In collaboration with project stakeholders identify improvement opportunities, agree resources, and implement delivery.
  3. Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and risk management.
  4. To be seen as problem solver in the business with positive relationships as subject matter experts across the business working in projects that effect train operations, fleet, and station infrastructure
  5. Direct the Function through coaching and mentoring to meet the obligations within the safety management system.
  6. Proactively monitor reporting systems such as close calls, near misses and safety concerns and identify and analysis trends.
  7. Direct management and safety representatives within the business in the interpretation and application of legal and health and safety requirements, programs, and procedures.
  8. To support the business in developing/reviewing risk assessments that include those required by provision of use of work equipment regulations (PUWER) and lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations (LOLER).

 

Who we’re looking for

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • PUWER Qualification or prepared to work towards
  • LOLER Qualification or prepared to work towards
  • Project Management and / or delivery
  • CSMRA experience
  • CDM qualification
  • Experience of Safety and environmental management systems.
  • Background in accident/incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
  • Able to produce a high standard of work within short time scales, with attention to detail and quality deliverables

 

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
