The Contract

 

Business in Focus is the lead delivery partner in Enterprise Partnership Cymru (EPC), along with Menter Môn, M-SParc and an eco-system of support agencies across Wales. EPC has won the contract to deliver the Business Wales service on behalf of the Welsh Government, providing advice and support to entrepreneurs pan-Wales.

The Entrepreneurship and Start-Up Service focuses on providing a wide range of advice to young people and start-up businesses through a variety of means including digital, telephone and face to face support.

EPC was successful in their bid to deliver both Business Wales advice services; Entrepreneurship and Start-up Service (ESU) and Business Development and Growth Service (BDG).

 

 

The Role 

 

The Marketing Coordinator supports the BDG Contract Manager with the development, implementation and management of the Business Wales marketing plan as agreed, and in conjunction with, Welsh Government approved campaigns and promotional activities. The role liaises with ESU Operational Managers to provide an effective marketing function that drives and engages a diverse client group to support the delivery teams to achieve objectives and targets.

Effective relationship management is key to the success of this role. The Marketing Coordinator must establish and maintain effective working relationships and work collaboratively with the ESU Operational Management Team, Welsh Government, our delivery partners, and all other stakeholders

 

Responsibilities

 

  1. Researches and analyses market trends, demographics, competitor products, and other relevant information to inform marketing strategies and activities.
  2. Annually write and agree budget for, and execution of a Business Wales strategic marketing plan and tactical campaign that achieves targeted recruitment of trading businesses for the Business Wales Service to an agreed return on investment model. Agreement on strategy to be made with all interested stakeholders, including Welsh Government and their delivery partners, the Business Wales contractors and their representatives.
  3. Monitor, analyse and report on the effectiveness of marketing strategies and campaigns, to ensure it is effective in increasing the number of quality referrals to to show measurable outcomes or other objectives. Report performance to ESU Contract Manager on a regular and timely basis. Where issues are identified, propose alternative measures and activities to improve performance and outcomes.
  4. Where marketing activities are outsourced, manage the relationship and review performance to ensure work is of a high standard, meets acceptable performance parameters, and is accurate to agreed objectives, budget and process.
  5. Engage with Welsh Government to facilitate and influence their PR, web, marketing and social media campaigns to the benefit of the Business Wales BDG Advisory service.
  6. Ensure that all marketing activity follows WG BW brand guidelines. Act as the Brand guardian for EPC.
  7. To ensure that marketing activity proceeds as planned and on budget and to report on any variance in this regard adapting this plan based on evidence to still achieve agreed outcomes
  8. To manage the effectiveness of marketing activity; to manage event feedback and recommend and implement actions to ensure continual improvement.
  9. To devise and implement brand awareness measures and to build the Business Wales brand and ensure its consistent use across the service.
  10. Produce agreed levels of case studies for marketing and PR purposes and liaise with WG, and other parties for their timely release and use.
  11. Attend BDG management and BW BDG contract meetings to present marketing plans, report on activities and outcomes, and receive constructive feedback. Undertake the accurate management of marketing related data ensuring all activity is recorded on IT systems and outcomes are evidenced and documented appropriately. Take management action to rectify issues raised by such data in order to achieve agreed outcomes.
  12. Regularly report progress on marketing to the other Business Wales BDG Managers and take an active and routine part in appropriate meetings.
  13. Feedback management information to the BDG Contract Manager and the Operational Management Team to monitor performance against profiles and provide a commentary on any performance challenges.
  14. Support the Management Team by identifying and making recommendations for continuous improvement, e.g. procedures, systems of work.
  15. Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Operational Management Team of Business Wales.

Person Specification

 

  1. Marketing qualification e.g. CIM Certificate in Marketing or higher AND/OR Proven work experience with good CPD activities to support development and knowledge in operational Marketing role
  2. Experience & Knowledge Managing the coordination and delivery of marketing support in a previous role
  3. Managing key relationships effectively and working collaboratively with clients and stakeholders
  4. Proven marketing management experience including budget management for marketing activities
  5. Experience of creating and managing marketing plans to achieve business objectives using a variety of activities effectively and working to strict brand guidelines
  6. Experienced in the effective management of all relevant digital and social marketing platforms, e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, You Tube and their use in a commercial environment
  7. Managing branded campaigns that include scheduling across variety of platforms, requiring strong content copy writing skills for traditional and digital media
  8. Experience of using Google Analytics, SEO and PPC
  9. Knowledge and understanding of how businesses operate and the needs of SMEs in the context of the Welsh economy
