The Contract

Business in Focus is the lead delivery partner in Enterprise Partnership Cymru (EPC), along with Menter Môn, M-SParc and an eco-system of support agencies across Wales. EPC has won the contract to deliver the Business Wales service on behalf of the Welsh Government, providing advice and support to entrepreneurs pan-Wales.

The Entrepreneurship and Start-Up Service focuses on providing a wide range of advice to young people and start-up businesses through a variety of means including digital, telephone and face-to-face support.

EPC was successful in their bid to deliver both Business Wales advice services, Entrepreneurship and Start-up Service and Business Development and Growth Service.

 

The Role

The Marketing Coordinator supports the ESU Contract Manager with the development, implementation and management of the Business Wales marketing plan as agreed, and in conjunction with Welsh Government approved campaigns and promotional activities.

The role liaises with ESU Operational Managers to provide an effective marketing function that drives and engages a diverse client group to support delivery teams in achieving objectives and targets.

Effective relationship management is key to the success of this role. The Marketing Coordinator must establish and maintain effective working relationships and work collaboratively with the ESU Operational Management Team, Welsh Government, delivery partners and all other stakeholders.

 

The Responsibilities

  1. Research and analyse market trends, demographics, competitor products and other relevant information to inform marketing strategies and activities.
  2. Annually write, agree and manage the budget for, and execution of, a Business Wales strategic marketing plan and tactical campaigns that achieve targeted recruitment of entrepreneurs and start-up businesses, aligned to an agreed return on investment model.
  3. Monitor, analyse and report on the effectiveness of marketing strategies and campaigns to increase quality referrals and demonstrate measurable outcomes. Report performance regularly to the ESU Contract Manager and propose improvements where needed.
  4. Manage outsourced marketing activities and relationships to ensure high standards, performance, accuracy and alignment with agreed objectives, budgets and processes.
  5. Coordinate and support event management within the Business Wales ESU service, including sourcing venues, booking speakers, promoting events, attending where appropriate, and reporting on outcomes and feedback.
  6. Engage with Welsh Government to support and influence PR, web, marketing and social media campaigns to benefit the ESU Advisory service.
  7. Manage social media channels, including content creation, scheduling and engagement. Monitor and respond to interactions professionally to enhance community engagement.
  8. Ensure all marketing activity adheres to Welsh Government Business Wales brand guidelines and act as Brand Guardian for EPC.
  9. Ensure marketing activity is delivered on time and within budget, reporting any variances and adapting plans to achieve agreed outcomes.
  10. Manage the effectiveness of marketing activity, including event feedback, and implement improvements for continuous development.
  11. Develop and implement brand awareness initiatives to strengthen and ensure consistent use of the Business Wales brand.
  12. Produce case studies for marketing and PR purposes and liaise with Welsh Government and partners for their release and use.
  13. Attend ESU management and contract meetings to present marketing plans, report on performance and maintain accurate records of marketing data and outcomes.
  14. Regularly report progress to Business Wales ESU Managers and actively participate in meetings.
  15. Provide management information to support performance monitoring and highlight any challenges.
  16. Support the Management Team by identifying and recommending continuous improvements to processes and systems.
  17. Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Operational Management Team.
