Joining a Pioneering Publicly Owned Renewable Energy Developer
Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, established by the Welsh Government in 2023, is driving forward Wales’ transition to a cleaner, greener future. Our mission is to accelerate the rollout of renewable energy projects across the Welsh public estate—primarily through onshore wind and solar PV—placing net zero and community benefits at the heart of this transformation.
Our ambitious goal? One gigawatt of locally owned, locally generated clean energy by 2040. More than just power, we’re generating revenue that will be reinvested in improving lives across Wales, creating high-quality green jobs, and fostering truly sustainable communities.
The current cost of living crisis underscores the essential role of energy in society. That’s why we’re committed to developing innovative models of benefit-sharing, ensuring our projects deliver meaningful and lasting improvements to the communities they serve.
Be Part of the Change
We are looking for a Communications and Community Engagement Officer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Public Involvement, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering our corporate engagement and communications strategy, while supporting project communications and stakeholder engagement across current and upcoming initiatives in North and Mid -Wales. In these regions, Welsh is widely spoken and often the primary language of local communities. To ensure meaningful and inclusive engagement with residents, businesses, and stakeholders, the role requires excellent interpersonal and language skills in both Welsh and English, written and spoken. Ideally, candidates will be based within easy reach of North and Mid Wales. The postholder will also be expected to attend Merthyr Tydfil offices at least twice per month.
Location
We operate a hybrid working model, balancing remote work with office-based collaboration. While our Head Office is in Merthyr Tydfil, meetings and key activities will be held at various Welsh Government locations across Wales.
Why Join us?
28 days’ annual leave + 8 public holidays - A defined contribution pension scheme to support your future - Flexible working opportunities and an emphasis on work-life balance - An electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme - A collaborative, inclusive, and supportive work environment

Flexible working requests will be considered.
If you’re ready to be part of an exciting journey towards a more sustainable, locally powered future, we’d love to hear from you.
