Role responsibilities

As a Customer Operations Implementation Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our stations and transport hubs. You’ll bring our design principles to life through practical, accessible, and visually compelling solutions that enhance the experience for customers and colleagues.

  • Apply and uphold TfW’s design and placemaking principles across station projects. Providing clear, actionable design guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research and maintain up-to-date industry standards and best practices within the Transport Hub Manual.
  • Maintain and visually update the Transport Hub Blueprint, ensuring it reflects strategic changes and remains accessible to stakeholders.
  • Own and update the Transport Hub Manual, translating briefs into visual guidance for station fixtures and finishes.
  • Collaborate with designers, agencies, and suppliers to ensure alignment with TfW’s brand and business strategy.
  • Create conceptual artwork to illustrate station assets and aspects, supporting strategic design and operational planning.
  • Lead the design process for signage and wayfinding artwork, ensuring accuracy, translation, and brand consistency.
  • Approve artwork packs and oversee delivery to ensure quality and compliance with TfW standards.

 

Who we’re looking for

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in graphic design, or relevant experience in a design role.
  • Proficient in using design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (including Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma and InDesign).
  • A strong portfolio showcasing illustration work.
  • Previous experience creating artwork for various channels, including print and digital media.
  • Strong understanding of brand identity application and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Experience working within an organisation with defined brand standards or in close collaboration with an in-house brand team.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple projects, with strong adaptability to changing priorities and effective time management skills.

 

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
