The Communications Officer plays a key role as part of an in-house team, promoting the work of HCC and the wider meat and livestock sector to a wide variety of stakeholders – the media, decision-makers, the whole supply chain from farmers to chefs and restaurateurs, policy-makers and academics.

The Communications team also supports the marketing work of HCC in terms of consumer promotion at home and abroad, and its industry development function which engages with farmers and processors to achieve greater efficiency and sustainability throughout the supply chain. The team is also responsible for the organisation of key events.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, and working alongside other members of the Communications team, the nature of the job requires a person with excellent writing skills and abilities in digital communications, together with organisational abilities and good interpersonal skills.

This post is initially a fixed-term appointment of one year to cover maternity leave, however there may be further opportunities within the communications and marketing teams in the longer term.
